A legacy continued, not reinvented
Bivane Vallei was established as a continuation of a trusted foundation. Its bloodlines trace back to the renowned Lang-Carel Stud, with foundation stock selected personally by Jan van der Wath — a name that carries weight in SA Boerperd circles.
The goal has never been to reinvent the breed. It has been to build carefully upon a foundation we trust, in a landscape that suits the horse.
Raised as horses should be
Because youngstock are raised year-round in the veld, within natural herd structures, the horses here develop strong bone, sound feet, and calm, capable minds. This approach creates horses that are adaptable, honest, and a pleasure to work with — whether under saddle or on the ground.
It also makes them the right horses for a working holiday. You'll be working with animals that are confident, curious, and used to people.

Our Breeding Vision at Bivane Vallei
We aim to preserve the traditional character of the SA Boerperd while strengthening its relevance as a modern working and competitive horse.
Soundness forms the foundation of our breeding program. Correct conformation, strong bone, good feet, and mental steadiness are non-negotiable, as
they support longevity and versatility.
Movement is a defining focus at Bivane Vallei. We strive to preserve the Boerperd’s distinctive buoyant, long-striding action driven by the hocks through
the back, with a medium–high knee lift that enhances balance, athletic ability, and rideability. This natural movement contributes to the horse’s potential
as a show horse while remaining practical and efficient for everyday riding and work.
